What if direction was taken into account? On one hand, we want automation when we seek out services(websites, atms, airport check-ins, phone support, and even check-out lines at supermarkets). But on the other, we want real people to seek out US. The virtual friend, the IM message, an actual person interested in dating, or an apology. you might both be right. just a thought.

Re: rizzn's personal blog

Indeed... I'm just covering my basis. :-p

FWIW, I definitely agree with you on your points - these are poor implementations of technology, and as a technologist, I felt it necessary to speak up for my (as of current, anyway) less than sentient friends.

The "bots", as it were, still need humans who know how to use the right tool for the right job and then configure it properly. Using these tools, I think a much more personal, transparent, and expedient approach can be taken to most things.

In the end, a net win for everyone.

Re: rizzn's personal blog

Thanks Mark

I wasn't blaming the robots. I was blaming the people who run them so poorly.

Re: rizzn's personal blog

Heh - I thought you might like this one. As you know, I welcome our new robot overlords, and look forward to their *kind and benevolent* rule. You hear that, Googlebot? Kind and benevolent!

Re: rizzn's personal blog

Great post and I heartily agree;)
